Ultrasound is an extremely popular and modern diagnostic method thecnology. It gives you a cross-section of the tested object. In ProClinic have a dynamic, versatil and multidisciplinary ultrasound. We do the ultrasound test in gynecology, obstetrics and breast. Thanks to this method, you can quickly detect various kinds of irregularities or complications. It is extremely fast and painless technique which allows to observe the development and movement of the child.

Pregnancy ultrasound

Ultrasound is an effective diagnostic method to examine the reproductive organ and the fetus. Thanks to this technology, you can quickly detect any abnormalities of the fetus. Nowadays it is difficult to imagine carring the pragnancy without performing a pregnancy ultrasound studies.

This examination should be performed in pregnant women at least 4 times during the pregnancy.

Today we have 3 types of ultrasound- 2D (commonly known), 3D and 4D.

3D, 4D Ultrasound

It has particular application in obstetrics. Thanks to this method, parents can view the beauty of the child, his face, handles, feet, how he/she moves, smiles for the first time. After the test you receive a DVD of the images of your child. The difference between 2D and 3D ultrasound is that the conventional ultrasound shows image of gray transparent only to a doctor, but not so for the parents. Thanks to study 3D / 4D we can exactly see the appearance of the child and gender. 3D image is multifaceted, gives three-dimensional image of the child. In contrast, 4D allows you to track the image of the baby’s movements.

In addition to showing the child’s ultrasound realistic 3D / 4D allows you to exclude or diagnose malformations. Allows you to determine whether a child is developing properly. It is very favorable, with many defects can heal in the womb.

Diagnosis 3D / 4D allows safe and at the same time precise pragnancy.

Breast Ultrasound

The breast ultrasound examination is painless and noninvasive. It is recommended once a year. This way we can detect various kinds of diseases. Breast ultrasound is one of the most important prevention studies. There are multiple indications for the test, which previously were not visible – eg. nodules or so. the skin stretching, unusual discharge from the breast in women who are not pregnant or lactescent, changes in the nipple, or nodules in the armpit. The study does not need special preparation, the best time to perform the study is the first half of the basic monthly cycle.

Thyroid Ultrasound

The study allows to determine the size, shape, and location of the structure of the thyroid gland. Also allows to evalutate the morphology of all kind of tumor, and this way to see their nature. When we talk about the cystic changes the method is about 100% certain, it means that almost all cases of the cystic changes we can get the correct diagnosis. Ultrasound is also very useful in inflammation of the thyroid gland. This applies to both acute and chronic inflammation. Frequent inspections let us control the progress of the disease and the effectiveness of the implemented treatment. The test is painless and there are no contraindications to the test.

Indications to perform an ultrasound of the thyroid:

  • abnormalities demonstrated in laboratory studies,
  • thyroid disease

Abdomen cavity ultrasound

Abdominal ultrasound let us evaluate the state of the abdominal organs, detect abnormalities and changes in their structure and also diagnose the appearience of fluid in the abdomen cavity. During abdominal ultrasound we can check the following organs:

  • Liver
  • Kidney
  • Pancreas
  • Spleen
  • Bile duct
  • Gall bladder
  • Prostate
  • Uterus
  • Great artery
  • Bladder

The test should be carried out, when you feel pain in the area of the abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal trauma, palpable nodules in the abdomen.
The study should also be carried out prophylactically every three years. It is important that the test be on an empty stomach.

Urinary tract ultrasoung

Ultrasound is also used in urology. With this test we can determine the exact shape, size and position of the kidneys and determine the origins of diseases of the urinary tract. Diagnostics should begin when you see the following symptoms:

  • Hematuria
  • pain in the lumbar area
  • painful urination
  • scrotal pain, palpable changes
  • noticeable changes in the penis
  • inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system

The test is also useful in determining the existence of a stone or stones in the pelvicalyceal system, errors in urine extracting tracks. Using the renal ultrasound we may also find the existence of kidney cysts or tumors.

Ultrasound test is the first step to detect various kinds of urinary tract diseases, therefore, it is very important to take the test immediately after noticing any changes.

Reproductive organ ultrasound

This painless test helps detect many serious diseases. It is a supplement to the pelvic examination. Thanks to the ultrasound test the doctor can examine the surface, the inside, shape, size, position of various organs such as the uterus, ovaries, as well as detect abnormalities in their construction. During the reproductive organ ultrasound is estimated quantity and the amount of vesicles, where the maturation of oocytes is taking place. Such monitoring of the cycle is important in the diagnostics of infertility.
The test is performed when:

  • if you suspect reproductive organ defects
  • to verify pregnancy
  • prophylactically
  • if any changes has appeared in the reproductive organs, ie. cysts, fibroids

The test should be performed least once a year for prophylaxis in women who began sexual life.

Testicular ultrasound

Testicular ultrasound allows the evaluation of scrotal contents: testes, epididymides, their casings and the presence of varicocele. Through this test we can diagnose testicular cancer.

The test is performed when:

  • Suspect hydrocele, testicular or epididymis tumor, seminal cysts, varicocele
  • when the pain occurs in the testicular or scrotum area
  • incorrect resilience of testicles during the palpable test

The test is non-invasive, painless diagnostic method which allows to specify the size and construction of testicles and epididymes.

Orthopaedic Ultrasound

In ProClinic also do the motion organs ulrtasound. This test allows the imaging of soft tissue, such as joint structures, ligaments and muscle.
During the motion organs ultrasound test normally we examine the synovial spaces of the knee, patellofemoral joint, ligaments and knee tendons, popliteal knee and meniscus. Foot dorsal ultrasound test let us veiw dorsal side of foot ligaments and tendons and of the plantar side – bones, tendons, nerves, soft tissue changes, so called heel spur, also the Achilles tendon.
Equally often we make tests of hip and its surrounding area: effusion, hematoma, synovial membrane pathology, the outline of bone, cartilage and also tendons.
Unlike other studies, ultrasound is completely safe, because at the time of the execution does not use ionizing radiation.

Vascular ultrasound

The study helps to avoid serious illness, and often even saves lives. Artery or veins ultrasound
should be performed in case of syncope, vertigo or feeling of „heavy legs”. It is non-invasive,
painless and it needs no previal preparation.

Vascular Ultrasound let us :

  • diagnose the presence of fresh venous thrombosis
  • diagnose the chronic thrombotic process and monitoring the treatment
  • Determinate the width of vessels (varicose veins) their network and blood flow velocity
  • functional analysis of venous valves
